This year, alongside music, art and a vibrant festival atmosphere, Portorož Nights introduced a special new experience – the exclusive Obsession Red dinner on the Portorož pier.
On Sunday, 16 August, the Portorož pier was transformed for one evening into an intimate culinary venue right above the sea. Bathed in candlelight, surrounded by red roses and accompanied by live music, Obsession Red brought together haute cuisine, an elegant setting and the symbolism of the colour red. The guests also dressed in red, further contributing to the evening’s distinctive atmosphere.
For the five-course menu, acclaimed chefs Filip Matjaž from the Michelin-starred COB restaurant in Portorož and Kristian Zule from Stara Gostilna – Vecchie Osterie in Piran, also recommended by the Michelin Guide, joined forces. The evening’s red theme was reflected in the dishes as well, with red hues and local ingredients taking centre stage. Guests enjoyed, among other creations, tuna tartare with crispy leek, sea bream sashimi with marinated beetroot, seafood lasagne, and sea bass fillet with reduced whey and pickled chanterelles. The culinary creations were paired with a selection of wines from Vinakoper.
The event was sold out, with 60 guests attending the dinner. Accompanied by the sound of strings, candlelight and views of the sea, Obsession Red became a refined experience for all the senses while revealing a different, more intimate side of Portorož Nights.
This elegant evening on the pier also marked the ceremonial conclusion of this year’s Portorož Nights. With its inaugural edition, Obsession Red demonstrated how a festival programme can be enhanced with exclusive culinary experiences that connect the local environment, outstanding culinary talent and a unique sense of place.
