Important Notice for Foreign Travel Agencies and Tour Guides
Foreign travel agencies, tour operators and tourist guides are hereby informed that when providing tourist guiding services in the Republic of Slovenia, they must comply with applicable Slovenian legislation. Tourist guides from EU Member States may provide tourist guiding services in Slovenia without a Slovenian tour guide examination only on an occasional basis, provided that they are already registered or qualified as tourist guides in their home country. If they provide tourist guiding services in Slovenia on a permanent basis, they must meet the same requirements as Slovenian citizens. Citizens of third countries may provide tourist guiding services in Slovenia only if they have passed the tourist guide examination administered by the Slovenian Chamber of Tourism and Hospitality. While conducting tours, tourist guides must visibly wear a valid tour guide identification card. Compliance with the legislation is monitored by the Market Inspectorate of the Republic of Slovenia, and further information is available via the link below.
