A new boutique experience in the Portorož and Piran destination invites you on a scenic Vespa ride through the Istrian countryside, to pick persimmons alongside locals and savour authentic local delicacies. This unique autumn experience will only be available during persimmon season.
When Istria Bears Fruit is a new boutique experience that brings together a scenic Vespa ride, meaningful encounters with locals, regional flavours and the authentic charm of the Istrian countryside.
Set off from Piran with an experienced guide and ride a Vespa into the heart of Slovenian Istria, passing vineyards, olive groves and orchards along the way. Your journey will take you to Gramona Organic Farm, where you will pick ripe persimmons alongside local farmers, discover the secrets of their cultivation and become part of authentic farm life for a few hours.
At the farm, your hosts will welcome you warmly, introduce you to different varieties of persimmons and invite you to join them among the trees for the harvest. Along the way, you will discover how much knowledge, patience and respect for nature goes into growing each fruit. This direct connection with local growers is what makes the experience truly special, offering an authentic insight into Istrian traditions and the local way of life.
After the harvest, you will be treated to a homemade Istrian lunch, prepared with a focus on local, seasonal ingredients and traditional flavours. As you taste fresh persimmons and persimmon-based products, you will also learn how locals incorporate these autumn fruits into their cuisine. A small gift from the farm will complete your boutique experience before you ride your Vespa back towards Piran through the peaceful autumn landscape.
This is an experience shaped by nature and the changing seasons. It will be available for approximately one month, starting on 19 October, when one of the Istrian countryside’s most characteristic autumn fruits reaches its peak ripeness.
