On Wednesday, 26 August 2026, an underwater photography experience will take place at Piran Punta, aimed at experienced divers interested in underwater photography and marine biodiversity. The free full-day experience will be led by renowned Slovenian underwater photographer Borut Furlan in cooperation with instructors from Dive Center Sub-net.
The event will give participants an opportunity to explore the underwater world of Piran Punta, one of the biologically richest areas of the Slovenian sea, and learn about the principles of responsible and sustainable underwater photography.
The programme will include an introductory lecture on underwater photography and marine organisms, practical photography tips, a presentation of the code of responsible underwater photography and a guided dive at Piran Punta. After the dive, participants will analyse their photographs with the mentor and select the best unedited photograph of the day. Selected photographs will also be included in the project’s digital gallery.
The underwater photography experience is the first pilot edition of a new sustainable tourism experience developed within the European project PHOENIX 4.0. The project aims to combine exploration of the marine environment, interpretation of natural heritage and a responsible attitude towards the sea with innovative tourism experiences.
The event is limited to a maximum of eight participants. Applicants must hold at least a CMAS 2★, PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent diving certification, have their own photography equipment and active diving experience. The dive will be carried out using scuba equipment, so the event is not suitable for freedivers.
Participation is free of charge, but due to the limited number of places, submitting an application does not guarantee participation. Selected applicants will be notified by email after the applications have been reviewed.
The completed application form should be sent to info@yoursea.org.
