That is why we encourage residents, visitors and local businesses in Portorož and Piran to adopt simple sustainable habits. Seven simple habits for a greener future
Every change counts, even if we begin with just one action. We can contribute to a more sustainable future by choosing to:
- cycle or use public transport whenever possible;
- buy local and seasonal food, supporting local producers and reducing the environmental impact of food transport;
- replace conventional light bulbs with LED bulbs, which use less energy and last longer;
- prepare a shopping list before making purchases, helping to avoid unnecessary purchases and reduce food waste;
- green balconies, terraces and gardens with native plants suited to the local environment;
- separate waste correctly and reduce the amount we produce;
- wash clothes at lower temperatures and air-dry them, whenever weather conditions allow.
Creating a sustainable destination together
Visitors can explore the destination in a more environmentally friendly way, choose local products and dishes, and make sure that their visit leaves behind nothing but wonderful memories.
