Slovenia fourth safest country in the world

According to this year’s Global Peace Index, Slovenia ranked fourth among the safest countries in the world, making it into the global top five for the first time. Among the key reasons for its high ranking, the report also highlights a high level of safety, a good work-life balance and a close connection with nature.

Slovenia improved its position on the list of the world’s safest countries, moving up from sixth to fourth place. Only Iceland, New Zealand and Switzerland ranked ahead of Slovenia, while Ireland followed in fifth place. On the list of countries in Western and Central Europe, Slovenia ranks an excellent third, behind only Iceland and Switzerland.

Among the key reasons for Slovenia’s high ranking on the list of the safest countries, the report mentions, among other things, a high level of safety, a good work-life balance and a close connection with nature.

The Global Peace Index, prepared annually by the Institute for Economics & Peace, assesses safety in 163 countries around the world. This year’s report finds that global peacefulness has declined for the twelfth consecutive year. Over the past year, the situation deteriorated in 99 countries, mainly due to the rising number of armed conflicts and increasing military expenditure.
