STO prepared the Climate Action Plan 2024–2030.

The Slovenian Tourist Board (STO) has prepared the STO Climate Action Plan 2024–2030, which defines concrete measures for reducing emissions and achieving net-zero emissions in its operations. The document, prepared in line with the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, was also presented at this year’s Green Day of Slovenian Tourism, where participants received printed copies. Through this initiative, STO continues its activities in the field of sustainable development and support for tourism stakeholders in implementing climate measures.

At this year’s Green Day of Slovenian Tourism, the Slovenian Tourist Board (STO) presented and published the STO Climate Action Plan 2024–2030, which defines key guidelines and measures for reducing emissions and strengthening climate action in Slovenian tourism. Participants at the event also received printed copies of the document.

The Climate Action Plan was prepared by STO in accordance with the commitments of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, which STO signed in September 2023. By signing the declaration, STO committed to preparing its own climate action plan, encouraging climate action among stakeholders, and regularly reporting to UN Tourism.

The document is based on the objectives of the Slovenian Tourism Strategy 2022–2028 and includes measures related to monitoring and reducing emissions, cooperation with stakeholders, and integrating sustainable practices into the development and promotion of Slovenian tourism. Through this plan, STO aims to further strengthen its role as a national tourism organization that actively integrates sustainability principles into the development and competitiveness of Slovenia as a green boutique destination.

The Climate Action Plan was coordinated by Alenka Malenšek Breznik, Head of Legal, Human Resources and Technical Affairs at STO, who is also Vice-Chair of the Chapter Earth working group at the European Travel Commission (ETC) and the contact person for climate action at UN Tourism appointed by the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport.
