In the Obalno-kraška region, both new opportunities for developing business ideas and changes in short-term accommodation rentals are currently in focus.
The 7th call of the PONI Obalno-kraška programme is now open, enabling individuals to develop their business idea within four months into a concrete plan and establish a company. The programme includes employment during the training period and support from mentors and experts. It is open to anyone with an idea and entrepreneurial ambition, regardless of age or experience. The application deadline is 2 June 2026, and the new group will start in July. More information and application documents are available at https://www.rrc-kp.si/podjetno-nad-izzive-poni/. At the same time, the updated Hospitality Act (Slovenia), in force since January, introduces changes for short-term rental providers. One of the key requirements is the installation of an official sticker on the entrance doors of apartments in multi-unit buildings. In the municipalities of Koper, Izola, Piran and Ankaran, the sticker must also be bilingual. It can be obtained at the Regional Development Centre Koper (SPOT Registration point, Ulica 15. maja 19, Koper), where additional information is also available.
Both developments reflect efforts towards entrepreneurship development and a more regulated and transparent implementation of tourism activities in the region.
