Tartini Festival 2026 – Orchestra Lorenzo Da Ponte

The concert Devil’s Trill on Tartini’s Violin will be dedicated to one of the most recognisable works by Giuseppe Tartini – the Violin Sonata in G minor, known as the Devil’s Trill, this time presented in a version for orchestra. The programme will be performed by the Lorenzo Da Ponte Chamber Orchestra under the artistic direction of conductor Roberto Zarpellon, with violinist Maristella Patuzzi as soloist.

The programme includes works by Ferdinando Bertoni, Giuseppe Tartini, Giovanni Battista Sammartini, Johann Christian Bach and Giovan Battista Ferrandini. The concert will take the audience through the rich world of Baroque and Classical music, from operatic symphonies to Tartini’s expressive violin heritage.

A special feature of the evening will be the performance on a harpsichord, a copy of an instrument by Carlo Grimaldi from 1697, made in the workshop of Winfried Hackl. The harpsichord will make an important contribution to the historically informed sound and artistic interpretation of the programme.

The Lorenzo Da Ponte Chamber Orchestra brings together renowned musicians from Central Europe, including members of leading European orchestras and ensembles such as Concentus Musicus Wien, the Vienna Philharmonic, Filarmonica della Scala, Orchestra Mozart and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. Based in Asolo, the orchestra is named after the famous librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte, closely associated with the work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It specialises in Baroque and Classical repertoire, combining historical fidelity with a contemporary artistic approach.

Conductor Roberto Zarpellon is the founder of the Lorenzo Da Ponte Chamber Orchestra and a distinguished interpreter of early, Baroque and Classical music. He has conducted at major European festivals and concert halls, and collaborated with artists such as Salvatore Accardo, Bruno Canino and Fabio Biondi.

Soloist Maristella Patuzzi is an internationally acclaimed violinist who began performing in early childhood. She has appeared across Europe, Asia, the Americas, Africa and Australia, has received numerous competition awards, and records for Brilliant Classics, Decca and Dynamic.

The concert will unite Tartini’s musical heritage, violin virtuosity and the historic sound of a Baroque orchestra.
