Summer Museum Night 2026


Summer Museum Night in Piran will take place on Saturday, 20 June 2026. Museums and galleries will open their doors free of charge and offer a varied evening programme and guided tours.

The main events in Piran will take place at the following locations:

  • “Sergej Mašera” Maritime Museum Piran: Includes an evening opening and special content at the main museum and its units.
  • Giuseppe Tartini Italian Community Piran: At 8:00 p.m., it will host an event for Summer Museum Night, including an exhibition by Karin Kocič.
  • Coastal Galleries Piran (Piran City Gallery): The exhibition venues will be open until 10:00 p.m.

For Summer Museum Night, on Saturday, 20 June, all exhibition venues of the Coastal Galleries Piran will also be open from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. For this occasion, we have extended the group exhibition Monsters Are People until 21 June; it is on view at the Loža Gallery in Koper. At the Herman Pečarič Gallery in Piran, the memorial exhibition Sakan and Piran is on view, dedicated to the late internationally acclaimed designer Dragan Sakan, who had a special connection with Piran.

As part of the programme of the “Sergej Mašera” Maritime Museum Piran, there will also be free public guided tours:

  • at 6:00 p.m. through the exhibition “Flatfish in the Nets” in the former Monfort salt warehouse in Portorož (Obala 8). The exhibition will be guided by the authors, Dr. Nadja Terčon and Veronika Bjelica
  • at 9:00 p.m. through the exhibition “The Admiral and the Japanese Screen” at Gabrielli Palace in Piran (seat of the Maritime Museum Piran; Cankarjevo nabrežje 3). The tour will be led by the exhibition’s author, Bogdana Marinac.

Piran Lighthouse will be open from 9:00 a.m. to midnight, with free admission from 6:00 p.m. to midnight.

You will also be able to visit the exhibition spaces independently and free of charge: Monfort will be open from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Gabrielli Palace from 6:00 p.m. to midnight, and Tartini’s Memorial Room in his birthplace in Piran from 6:00 p.m. to midnight.
