Scaramuccia: Dreaming of Tartini

Music and memories of the violinist who challenged the Devil

What if, for one evening, we could step into Giuseppe Tartini’s dreams?

Tuesday, 8 September, at 7.30 pm, in the Church of St Francis in Piran, we invite you to experience a concert that aims to be much more than a concert: an intimate journey into Tartini’s world, a meeting of music, words, memories and dreams.

The music of the Scaramuccia Ensemble will be accompanied by brief readings from Tartini’s letters, reflections and poetic thoughts, as well as testimonies from his contemporaries. The journey will take us through some of the most evocative moments of his life: from the Little Sonatas, perhaps rooted in the musical memories of his childhood in Piran, to the sonatas composed in Venice, possibly performed by his pupils Anna Maria, Chiara or Maddalena.

But there is something that will make this journey particularly special.

We will hear Tartini through the sound of historical instruments, brought closer to the sonorities of his time through the use of gut strings, in the hands of musicians who are at once performers and distinguished scholars of his work. Their interpretation will follow the ornaments that the Maestro of Nations himself advocated and taught, creating a dialogue between historical research and artistic sensitivity, and seeking to restore to his music the freedom, intensity and authenticity that make it so remarkably alive even today.

It will be like opening a door into the eighteenth century.

For one evening, beneath the vaults of the Church of St Francis, Tartini’s words will meet his music, the past will meet the present, and we will have the chance to come closer to the man behind the myth of the violinist who dared to challenge the Devil.

An experience to be heard, but above all, to be lived.

Free admission, by reservation: info.casatartini@gmail.com

We look forward to sharing this journey into Tartini’s dreams with you.
