The Maritime Museum “Sergej Mašera” Piran cordially invites you on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 7:00 PM to the Ethnological Collection Tona’s House in Sv. Peter for the opening of the exhibition by intermedia artist Lea Jazbec: Corporeality and the Essence of Space II.
The event will be enriched with songs and performances by the group of the Cultural Association Šavrini and anka Šavrinke, which preserves and transmits the intangible cultural heritage of the Slovenian Istrian countryside.
Lea Jazbec approaches the exploration of nature and the human being through experimentation, the use of various media, and light. In the exhibition project, she presents a series of portraits that establish a relationship between humans and the landscape. The exhibited works were created in 2023 during an artist residency at the home of Alojz Kocjančič in Kubed, where she explored the landscape and the human condition by portraying the Šavrini and Šavrinke, using a manual graphic print of photographs on Repen Povir stone. The artist connects their origin and way of life with the hard Karst stone.
The exhibition is part of the In Situ project, which is closely connected to nature and the surface of space. It reflects on our activity, movement, and the traces we leave behind, as well as the various consequences of our actions in space.
You are kindly invited.
