A tribute to a musical genius: Piran celebrates 130 years of the Tartini monument

This year marks 130 years since the monument to Giuseppe Tartini was erected in Piran’s central square. To celebrate the anniversary, Tartini Square will become the venue of a major celebration and the highlight of the year-long Tartini130 project on Sunday, 2 August 2026, at 9 p.m.

The evening will open with a concert by the Orchestra of the Giuseppe Verdi Opera Theatre Foundation from Trieste, conducted by Slovenian conductor Mojca Lavrenčič. Italian violinist Massimo Quarta will perform as soloist.

The programme will continue with a multimedia spectacle featuring light projections and visual effects. The stage will host Elektro Big Band, Izidor Leitinger, Raiven and Masayah.

The festive evening will recall the historic unveiling of the Tartini monument in 1896 and connect Tartini’s heritage with contemporary musical creativity.

Entry is free.
