An authentic journey through the wines of Slovenian Istria

Embark on a wine tasting experience and a tour of one of the largest wine cellars in Slovenian Istria.

Founded in 1947, Vinakoper today cultivates nearly 600 hectares of vineyards stretching across the entire Slovenian coast. The impressive winery on Šmarska Street in Koper reveals the secrets behind its premium wines – from carefully tended vineyards to modern production and aging techniques.

During the guided tour, you will discover the history of the cellar, insights into the Istrian terroir, and the characteristics of autochthonous and international grape varieties, including Refosco, Malvasia, Yellow Muscat, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and the distinctive Cipro.

The tour includes a presentation of the winemaking and aging processes, as well as access to the spaces where wines with a distinctive Istrian character are created.

A taste of flavors and authentic Istrian hospitality

Tastings take place in a refined tasting room, suitable for individual guests and small groups, where the combination of a luxurious interior and knowledgeable experts completes the experience. The professionally guided tasting reveals the diversity of the winery’s collections – from fresh white and red wines to aged labels and special selections – while guests receive answers to all their questions about wines, vintages, and food pairings.

After the tasting, visitors can explore the wine boutique, offering the full range of Vinakoper wines as well as selected local Istrian products, including Istrian cheeses, truffles, olive oil, pasta, and gift packages.

This experience goes beyond a simple tasting – it becomes a complete culinary encounter with the flavors of Slovenian Istria.
