Morigenos
The Dolphin Centre
In Piran you can find the Dolphin Centre, where visitors can learn about the lives of dolphins through interactive exhibitions, listen to their sounds, and see realistic models. Guided tours are available in Slovenian and English. The centre was established by the Slovenian Marine Mammal Society Morigenos. Their work includes scientific research, education, and raising public awareness about the importance of marine conservation.
At the Dolphin Centre visitors can explore an exhibition about the lives of these amazing animals – how they live, feed, and communicate – and get to know the research work of Morigenos more closely. The experience is enriched with interactive elements, such as an app that demonstrates the work of researchers, a sound room with ocean noises and dolphin vocalisations, and a realistic bottlenose dolphin model in life size, one of the regular residents of the Slovenian Sea.
Adopt a dolphin – support Morigenos
By symbolically adopting a dolphin from the Slovenian Sea, you support the work of Morigenos, an organisation dedicated for many years to the research, monitoring and protection of dolphins and their habitat in the northern Adriatic.
Adoption provides financial support for research and conservation projects, while the dolphins continue to live freely in their natural environment. Adopters receive an adoption certificate, a profile of the selected dolphin with photos, and other symbolic benefits.
