At the national competition held on May 18, 2025, in Vipava as part of the European project GELATOn the ROAD, the winning ice cream was Š’TORTA. The team from Cappuccino Café Koper drew inspiration from the popular local dessert, the famous Š’torta cake, which has now come to life in a refreshing summer ice cream version. You can taste the ice cream at Cappuccino cafés in Piran, Lucija, Koper, and in the City Café Piran.
The GELATOn the ROAD project connects cultural heritage, sustainable tourism, and artisanal ice cream making. Across Europe, events are organized to promote the use of local ingredients, traditional recipes, and innovative flavors.
The winning ice cream Š’TORTA impressed both the expert jury and visitors with its authenticity, rich flavor, and strong link to local culinary identity. With this victory, Cappuccino Café Koper also earned the honor of representing Slovenia at the European final in Italy in November 2025, where they will compete against the best gelato makers from all over Europe.
The event was organized by the Regional Development Agency ROD Ajdovščina in cooperation with local winemakers and producers.
