Ankaran through time and nature
The walk will begin at the complex of Hotel Adria Ankaran, the former Benedictine monastery of St. Nicholas, where you will learn how monastic heritage shaped the development of today’s town. The route will lead towards the center of Ankaran and the market, continuing along the Bebler Path to the Church of St. Nicholas and the new cemetery, where an important part of local history is preserved.
Along the Olive Path, you will pass the house where Dr. Aleš Bebler – Primož worked, and continue among olive groves towards the area of St. Catherine and the unique Shell Cemetery, one of the most interesting natural phenomena on the Slovenian coast. Along the way, you will also learn about the importance of the salt meadow as a valuable coastal ecosystem.
The experience will conclude in the Park of Remembrance, by the bust of Dr. Aleš Bebler – Primož, where Ankaran’s historical heritage and natural features come together in a complete destination experience.
