Days of Wild Asparagus – expansion to the entire Slovenian Istria
This year, the popular Days of Wild Asparagus from Izola are expanding to the entire Slovenian Istria, bringing even more opportunities to taste a variety of dishes based on this wild delicacy. Frittatas, homemade pasta, risottos, seafood dishes, meat specialties, and even desserts – local restaurateurs have prepared a diverse selection of dishes and menus showcasing the rich use of this ingredient.
“Wild asparagus is part of Istria’s tradition, culture, and way of life. By expanding these culinary days, we want to give visitors the chance to better discover this seasonal delicacy while supporting local restaurateurs,” say the organizers of the culinary days – all four tourist destinations united under the Love Istria brand. The organizers believe that through cooperation, such promotional activities will reach a wider audience and attract even more visitors.
21 inns and restaurants, one love for local flavors
Among this year’s participating restaurateurs are renowned restaurants and inns from Koper, Izola, Piran, Portorož, Ankaran, and the Istrian hinterland. Their menus are enriched with carefully selected local ingredients, with many following the principles of sustainable gastronomy and the “Kilometer Zero” initiative. In addition to asparagus frittatas, plates will feature various creamy soups, homemade fuži pasta, a selection of fish dishes, some meat specialties, and innovative desserts.
