Programme:

Tartini Festival’s unique ensemble lead by Artistic Directors Jasna Nadles and Milan Vrsajkov was founded in 2005. It performs its repertoire on baroque instruments, accompanies famous soloists at festivals and is composed of members of various international orchestras. The festival ensemble tours Europe and aims to increase the visibility of the music and cultural scene of Slovenia. It has performed at key European festivals, such as; the Ravello Festival, the Emiglia Romagna Festival, the Veneto Festival, Festival Ljubljana, Korkya Baroque Festival, La vie del Barocco and presented the music of Slovenia for the Council of Europe in Luxembourg. The ensemble regularly works with famous musicians such as; Sergio Azzolini, Christophe Coin, Giuliano Carmignola, Mario Brunello and others.

Giorgio Fava grew up in Treviso, with Antonio and Giuliano Carmignola and completed his then, studies with M° Corrado Romano in Geneva. He studied at the Centre de Musique Ançienne (Geneva) with Chiara Banchini and in 1985 gained the diploma cum laude in baroque violin. Since 1983 he has been first violin of ”Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca” that nowadays keeps a role of authority in the interpretation of Venetian music of the XVII and XVIII centuries. With this ensemble he has performed in many important international festivals, giving concerts in the greatest European cities and in South America. He has recorded for the principal recording companies (such as Divox, Erato, Warner Classic, Decca, Sony, Naxos etc) and European radios. As first violin and soloist, he played with conductors like Leonhardt, Koopman, Curtis, Parrot, Radulescu, Fasolis, Jacobs. Since 1981 he has taught at the Conservatorium of Venice and Castelfranco Veneto. From 1994-97 he was Professor of baroque violin at Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen (Germany). As part of the International Discography Prize Antonio Vivaldi established by the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice, he received the special jury prize in 2001.

Tickets for Tartini festival can be purchased one hour before the concert at the venue or in advance sale at Tourist Information Center in Piran, Eventim sales points and Tartini’s birth house in Piran.
