Amphitheatre of Avditorij Portorož

Violinist Stefan Milenkovich, who was declared for the artist of the century in Serbia in 2002, a year later Most Humane Person and in 2010 Brand Personality of the Year, has had an extremely long and creative artistic history. In the 1980s he became famous as a wonder child (at the age of 10 he played for President Reagan, at 11 for Gorbachev, at 14 for Pope John Paul II), at the age of 16 he gave his 1000th concert and by the age of 17 he had won prizes and awards at many of the most prominent international competitions. After his studies at the Music Academy in Belgrade and the famous Juilliard School conservatory in New York, he became one of the most sought after violinist virtuosos of his generation. He performs with world's greatest orchestras and conductors such as Sir Neville Marriner, Lorin Maazel, Vladimir Fedosejev, Daniel Oren and En Shao, and critics review his performances with superlatives. For over two decades he has been devoted to teaching: he has taught at the Juilliard School and was associate professor of violin at the University of Illinois. At the moment, he is Arts Manager of the new concert hall in Novi Sad and associate professor of violin at the University of Novi Sad. Stefan Milenkovich plays a 1783 Giovanni Battista Guadagnini violin.

The Camerata Academica Chamber Orchestra is established under the auspices of the Art Academy in Novi Sad and its members are teaching assistants, assistant professors and the best students of the Academy, among whom are already renowned soloists and members of European orchestras. The ensemble, which successfully performed in Germany, the Netherlands and at every important music festival in the former Republic of Yugoslavia (Bemus, Nomus, Ohrid Summer), fell apart in 1999 due to crisis in their country. It was restored in 2007 at the initiative of cellist Marko Miletić and since then Camerata Academica can pride itself on reviews that point out the beauty of the tone and convincing musical expression. Orchestra The orchestra is small enough to perform in any hall and excellent and big enough to offer listeners the full symphonic experience as well as the pleasure of chamber music.
