In June, Istrian municipalities will
offer a wide range of events; the scent of summer is already in the air.
Music treats
The Kazakh folk group and musicians Sazgen Sazy performance will be held on
Tartini Square in Piran on June 7. One of the highlights of June will be the Queen Symphony concert, held on Tito's Square in Koper on June 14. June will be lively also on the Valdoltra stone stage. Tatjana Rojc,
Italian senator and our compatriot from Trieste, will accompany the performance
of the ŽPZ Kombinat on June 15. On the World Music Day, June 21,
spontaneous music will be performed in the center of Ankaran during the day. In
the evening, students from music schools from Trieste, Koper and Rijeka will
perform in a concert in Valdoltra. Next day, students from the music school of
Koper will host their peers from Kranj in their end of school year performance.
On June 21, in the Auditorium of Portorož, the concert The Night of the most
beautiful opera arias will be performed by the members of the Symphony
Orchestra, soloists and the choir of the Opera SNG Maribor, and directed by Simon Krečič. On June 22, the concert
of Parni Valjak will take place at
Dekani. On June 24, on the of Statehood day, the singer Anika Horvat will
perform in a concert on Tartini Square in Piran. On Friday, June 28, Valdoltra
stage will host the opening event of the two-month festival Summer in Ankaran. Brane Završan with his legendary concert Senca tvojega psa (The shadow of your dog) will lead the audience
through sensual-emotional life narration, of the legendary French chansonnier, Jacques Brel. On the same evening, the concert of the compositions by the Count Stefano Rota will take place in the
Cross corridor of the Minorite monastery Piran. The festival FENS will take
place in Koper from June 28 to June 30, while Klemen Slakonja will perform in a concert with Big Band of RTV Slovenia in Avditorij Portorož on June 29. On the same evening,
the first summer dance &music party,performed by the famous coastal DJs, will take place on the beach Študent
in Ankaran. June's various musical events will be enriched by Thursday's nights by the špina, held every Thursday in Izola.
In June the event will host the following musical guests: Same Babe, Aldo Kumar Anbot, Teo Collori and Momento Gypsy.
Culinary
pampering
On May 31 and June 1, Izola will host the seventh Festival of Olives, Wine and Fish
and the Festival of the Golden Olive Branch. The two-day event will be
enriched by smaller concerts taking place at various locations around the city
and performed by Klapa Capris, Vruja, Žiga Rust, Zingelci, Trio Turn, Trio
Lipa, Oktet Aljaž, Oktet Tinje, Kompanija Izolana and many other local
musicians. In the first half of June, also in Izola, the Mussels days will take place. In as many as 22 inns and
restaurants, involved in the project, you will enjoy the local mussels and
other dishes based on shellfish and other marine delicacies. Between June 7 and
9 the 47th traditional Festival
of Refošk and Slovenian Istria will be held in Marezige. On June 7, at the
culinary event Viva la pasta in
Koper, all fans of pasta will have the opportunity to enjoy themselves, while
on June 15, the Odprta Kuhna returns
to Koper.
Cultural and
ethnological experiences
On June 15, the traditional all-Slovenian event Summer museum night will take place in Koper, Izola and Piran. Various events
will be held in galleries and museums that will be open for visitors a lot longer than usual, and entry will be free.
On June 15 and 16, numerous activities will take place on St. Nazarius’s day on Prešeren square in Koper. On June 21 and 22,
during the Medieval Days in Kubed,
visitors will be taken back to Medieval times through various activities. The
group Gedora and Rudy Bučar will enrich the event with their music. On June 22,
the medieval atmosphere will also be present in Korte, where on the Statehood
day and Summer solstice the traditional event Kresna noč will take place along with the new Festival from Histri to Romans in Kaštelir. In the second half of
June, two traditional folklore events will also be organized. From June 21 to
25 the 17th MIFF Festival -
Mediterranean International Folklore Festival will be held, with many
interesting performances at the Koper Taverna and on the Piran Tartini Square.
In Izola, on June 21 and 28, the folk festival Izola Folk will create a colorful atmosphere. On June 22, a walk
through the hidden, green corners of the city will be organized during the
event Open Gardens of Koper.
On screen and
stage
From June 5 to 9, the International Film Festival KINO OTOK will lighten up the
atmosphere in Izola. Thanks to the carefully selected film and accompanying
program, the Kino Otok has become one of the key film festivals in the wider
European area. This year, one of the film venues will be in Izola, and entry to
the ground floor of the museum will be free of charge. In June, the rich
program of the 26th Primorska Summer
Festival continues with its numerous interesting cultural events in Piran,
Izola and Koper. The June closeout event will take place in Ankaran with the
performance of the Art Theater Ptuj.
Time for sport
Koper will host the World Cup in gymnastics from May 30 to June 2, and the Triathlon Istria Cup on June 1. On
the same day at 9 pm, the viewing of the finals of Champions League, arbitrated by local referee Damir Skomin, will be held in Taverna. Among the sport
events of the month, the highlight will be the MTB Slavnik, which will take place on June 16. On June 24 and 25,
luxurious cars of the OneLife Rallytour, will be exhibited in the park of the hotel Kempinski Palace Portorož.
