Persimmon Fruit Feast

The Persimmon Fruit Feast is a traditional event, organized in November by the Solinar Tourist Association from Strunjan. Delicious fruit is exhibited and offered for purchase fresh or in the form of culinary masterpieces. Experts prepare lectures on various subjects, artists put their work on show and prepare a variety of entertainment and cultural events, whereas caterers offer a delicious assortment of typical regional dishes.

The event will take place in front of the Krka’s Talaso Strunjan centre.

The Persimmon Festival is organized by the Tourist Association Solinar Strunjan in cooperation with the restaurant Gostilna Karjola Marezige.

Programme for the 17th Persimmon Festival 2017:

Friday, 17th November 2017

10 am – 4 pm: Farmers market of persimmon and other delicacies. Introduction of a saltpan worker family from the Italian community Skupnost Italijanov G. Tartini Piran

11 am:  Grand Opening with the music group »Banda Zluk« from Trieste. Welcome speeches, persimmon blessing – by Father Bojan

12 pm – 1 pm: Guided tour of the Strunjan saltpans (Meeting place: Fishermen’s Port of Strunjan; price: 2 EUR/person)

1 pm: Lecture on persimmon production and use (Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry of Slovenia – Agriculture and Forestry Institute Nova Gorica, Agricultural Advisory Service KOPER, Irena Vrhovnik, Session Hall at Talaso Strunjan)

3 pm: Lecture on drying of persimmon (Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry of Slovenia – Agriculture and Forestry Institute Nova Gorica, Agricultural Advisory Service KOPER, Janko Brajnik, Session Hall at Talaso Strunjan)

6 pm: The Largest Strunjan Persimmon competition

7 pm: New! Guided tour of the Landscape Park with torches (Meeting place: in front of the Tent; duration around 1 hour; copayment : EUR 5 – includes the costs of a guide, torch and a persimmon pie)

8 pm: Entertainment programme with the group TRIO MI 3

 

Saturday, 18th November 2017:

9 am – 10 am: Guided tour of the Strunjan saltpans (Meeting place: Fishermen’s Port of Strunjan; price: 2 EUR/person)

10 am – 4 pm: Farmers market of persimmon and other delicacies

10 am – 12 pm: Creative workshops for kids (Landscape Park Strunjan Centre for visitors at Strunjan Saltpans; cancelled in case of bad weather)

10 am – 2 pm: Artistic workshops Italian community Skupnost Italijanov G. Tartini Piran

1 pm – 2 pm: Guided tour of the Strunjan saltpans (Meeting place: Fishermen’s Port of Strunjan; price: 2 EUR/person)

3.30 pm: Lecture on persimmon production and use (Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry of Slovenia – Agriculture and Forestry Institute Nova Gorica, Agricultural Advisory Service KOPER, Irena Vrhovnik, Session Hall at Talaso Strunjan)

6.30 pm: Performance of klapa musicians: KLAPA CAPRIS, KLAPA SOLINAR, KLAPA RIŠPET

Sunday, 19th November 2017

9 am: Holly Mass (in the Tent) – Father Bojan

10 am – 16 pm: Farmers market of persimmon and other delicacies

11 am: Performance of a mandolin-player’s group ''Serenate'' from the Italian community Skupnost Italijanov G. Tartini Piran

12 pm – 6 pm: Meeting of accordion players and a Marjan Knez MEMORIAL

2 pm: Performance of the men’s quire Moški pevski zbor KUD Lipovci – Prekmurje

 

There will be an organized ride with a road train from the parking place in the centre of Strunjan to the event location.

The event will take place in the Landscape Park, where everyone is behaving in a nature friendly way.

The Tent is heated!

A persimmon-themed artistic exhibition will take place at the venue. The artists will be from: Strunjan section of the Kindergarten Morje Lucija, Strunjan section of the Kindergarten La coccinela Piran, Strunjan branch of the Primary School Lucija, Centre for Training Elvira Vatovec Strunjan. Talaso Strunjan will be host to the persimmon-themed artistic works by artists from the Italian community Skupnost Italijanov G. Tartini Piran.

Furthermore, there will be an exhibition of the varieties of persimmon (Agriculture and Forestry Institute Nova Gorica, Agricultural Advisory Service Koper).
