Forma Viva Portorož - Portorož & Piran

Forma Viva Portorož

Forma Viva, this unique collection of stone sculptures under the open sky, is situated in a park on the Seča Peninsula near Portorož.

It evolved in a series of international encounters between eminent sculptors, in the form of sculptor symposiums, beginning in the year 1961 upon the initiation of two Slovenian artists, Jakob Savinšek and Janez Lenassi.

In the 40 years of uninterrupted activity since, sculptors from over 30 countries have left to the Istrian coast and Slovenian cultural treasury over 120 stone sculptures, the majority of which stand in Seča Park, while some are also in the parks of Koper, Izola and Piran.

Besides stone workshop in Portorož, there are also other three workshops you can visit: Kostanjevica na Krki – wood, Ravne na Koroškem – metal, Maribor – concrete.
