Piran

In Piran, you will feel as though you have stepped right into a picture postcard. You will be charmed by the narrow streets within the old town wall. In the main square, you will be greeted by the statue of the most famous man in Piran, the well-known Giuseppe Tartini, composer and virtuoso violinist who was born in a house right next to the square. On the pier, you can catch sight of a fisherman unravelling a fishing net. A market woman from Piran will have just delivered vegetables, fresh from her garden, to the market. Locals sitting by the sea, chatting and listening to sounds of the sea, greet you with a nod.

Having coffee, lunch or dinner surrounded by sounds of the sea will ensure pleasant memories for a long time to come.

Piran countryside

The Piran countryside offers genuine experiences and it gives you a special feeling that time has stood still. Old stone cottages sit high above the sea on the hilltops of Slovenian Istria. From here, you have a view of the sea and the Alps, olive groves, vineyards on steep hills and valleys strewn with orchards and vegetable gardens.

Take a ride along the Istrian wine route. Discover the heritage of Istrian farmers and indulge in delicious Istrian food. While strolling through the narrow village streets, visit a “torkla” – an olive press. In autumn, when the olives are ripe, you can taste freshly pressed olive oil.

You can reach our villages on foot or by bicycle. Marked bicycle paths and hiking trails will take you there past “val” – cultivated valleys.
